Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)

Symphony No. 9 in D minor op. 125

A glittering highlight of the season is Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, which marks an important milestone in music history and stands for peace, tolerance and solidarity. The setting of Schiller's ode "To Joy" revolutionized the genre by integrating vocal parts for the first time. The famous symphony also has a special connection to the Mozart Hall, where it was played 50 years ago at an academy concert to open the hall. Despite its popularity, it will be performed at the Academy Concerts for the first time in 25 years - a point of honor that GMD Roberto Rizzi Brignoli will be conducting.
