With over 1.7 million media in more than 30 languages, there is something for everyone to discover here - whether exciting books, e-books, audio books, thrilling films or fun games. Want to learn something new? That's also possible with various e-learning courses. In the Library of Things, you can also borrow a wide variety of items, from robots and hula hoops to tools and sewing machines.

The Bücherhallen are not only Hamburg's most popular cultural institution, but also the perfect place to try out new things, learn or simply switch off. Whether it's cozy reading corners, fast Wi-Fi or separate group rooms for your projects - you'll find everything you need here.

With the library card, adults can currently open the door themselves in 26 city libraries - even if there is no staff on site. In selected libraries, this is even possible on Sundays and public holidays from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm.
