In Cologne, people are always talking about the "right" and the "wrong" side of the Rhine. But why is that?
We were out and about with Sparkasse KölnBonn on the Schäl Sick and explored our Veedel Kalk - and we can tell you one thing for sure: Kalk is definitely not "wrong"!

We'll now tell you which cool places we discovered & how much money we spent there! 👇

Villa Kalka

We started our Kalk excursion with a delicious late breakfast at Villa Kalka. The cozy café on Kalk-Mülheimer Straße is just 5 minutes from the Kalk Post stop. Between the cozy retro flair and the nice staff, we felt right at home & the coolest thing: you can have breakfast here until 4 pm! 😍
Emy had the vegan "Breakfast Querbeet" and Lisa had "Iron(wo)man" - a waffle topped with spinach, scrambled eggs and yoghurt. Mega delicious!
You can also get delicious food here after 4 pm from the all-day or evening menu!

📍 Kalk-Mülheimer Str. 58

💸 €23 for two delicious breakfast dishes with a drink

Humana

After some refreshments, we went browsing & we don't want to raise our expectations too high, but in our opinion the Humana in Kalk is the best human store in Cologne. A great range and a really good selection - it makes second-hand shopping twice as much fun. Emy and Lisa both treated themselves to a pair of gloves, as winter is just around the corner. You'll also find great woolly sweaters, winter jackets, hats and more here - and definitely one or two cool Christmas presentstoo! 👏

📍 Kalker Hauptstraße 181-183

💸 €9 for two pairs of gloves

Café Rotkehlchen

As you already know, we love coffee and cake. Whether in the morning, at lunchtime or in the evening - coffee, cake or tea is always a good idea! 🤗
We've never visited Café Rotkehlchen in Kalk before - so we took the opportunity to stop by. They serve a wide variety of homemade cakes and other sweets. What's special: everything here is completely VEGAN! From the milk to the cookies - you don't have to search long here, just order! We had the speculaas cake and a warm cappuccino and matcha to go with it - mhmm, that was delicious!

📍 Breuerstraße 10

💸 €12.60 for a cappuccino, matcha and a large slice of cake

Kalk adventure hall

As we continued our walk through Kalk, we came across the Kalk Adventure Hallwhile searching for the planting site. Have you ever been here? 👀
The former factory hall is supposed to have a cafeteria, a climbing wall and cool activities such as baseball, inline skating and much more. There will also be a skate park here. We'll definitely be taking our skateboard with us next time we visit Kalk!

📍 Christian-Sünner-Straße 8
