Dortmund's gastronomy of the future?
Yes, we already told you: the unveiling of tomorrow's hotspots starts now with the GESCHMACKSTALENTE start-up competition! 👀 The Dortmund Economic Development Agency has created a unique platform where gastronomic visionaries can bring their ideas to life. However, the competition is not only there to promote the city's gastronomy scene, but also to support new and innovative ideas in the gastronomy sector. In short: Dortmund's hotspots of tomorrow are being created here!

Who can take part here?
You're probably wondering who can take part in the start-up competition. Quite simply: Local gastronomy enthusiasts with the ✨ dream ✨ of setting up a business in Dortmund. Do you have a great and innovative idea, but still need professional and financial support on the way to opening? Or are you already a restaurateur, have opened your restaurant after March 1, 2023 and are interested in developing your business model further? Then you've come to the right place! The competition is open to all founders who want to present their restaurant concept with a well thought-out business plan and actively work on its further development during the competition. No matter whether your heart beats for a cozy café, a stylish food truck, a trendy club or a completely new concept.

Is there anything to win?
No competition without good prizes - that's obvious. This is not just about recognition, but also about financial incentives. The ten teams that make it through to the main round with their creative ideas can look forward to prizes with a total value of over €80,000 - a generous amount of money to turn innovative concepts into reality! 💸 In addition, participants can take part in various workshops to learn the big start-up 1x1. Topics such as financing options, legal aspects, business plan basics, number management, marketing & digitalization and personnel planning are on the curriculum here. And the best thing? Participation is free of charge!

When does it start?
On February 26, 2024 , the competition 🏁 starts with a public kick-off in the restaurant "Nansen" in the Heimathafen. You are cordially invited to come along! Here you will not only find out all the details and conditions of participation in the competition, but you can also exchange ideas with former participants and make initial contacts in the Dortmund restaurant scene. After submitting the idea papers by March 22, 2024, the best ideas will be awarded on April 22, 2024 and experienced coaches will be assigned for the main round. The final on June 17, 2024 will be the highlight of the competition, where the winners with the best gastronomic concepts will be honored.
