Drinking Aperol Spritz in Munich: 10 tips - Rausgegangen

Dolce far niente: Sitting in the Tivo and drinking Aperol Spritz comes very, very close to a short vacation. In addition to a tennis court that you can rent, you can also eat and drink wonderfully here - even under palm trees, no joke! Not so long ago, new life was breathed into the historic location near the old Tivoli tennis courts (between the English Garden and the Isar). And one thing should already be clear: playing tennis has never looked so stylish and can be combined with such good, Mediterranean food and drinks as at Tivo. Whether you want to play a round on the court or just drop by to enjoy yourself: You're sure to have a good time.

At least as much dolce vita awaits you on the terrace of Monti Monaco in a large courtyard in the Schlachthof district. Not only is an ice-cold Aperol Spritz served there, but Monti Monaco is also a great place if you want to treat yourself to something culinary. Although the prices here are a little higher than in other restaurants in Munich, the quality definitely justifies it. In addition to the regular menu, where you can choose from the typical Italian primi and secondi piatti, you can also opt for the surprise 3 or 4-course menu. Another plus point: you can buy a few Italian products to take home with you in the delicatessen. Why we like it here above all: The sun stays out for a comparatively long time in the spacious courtyard, so an Aperol Spritz as a sundowner is practically guaranteed!

Pasta, pinsa, dolce vita: word must have gotten around by now that this triad bears the name "Young Romans". Thanks to the furnishings with lots of dark wood and green marble, you really do feel a bit like you're in an Italian day bar. But the restaurant in Pestalozzistraße is also a great place to sit outside - especially with a cold Aperol Spritz, of course. With an aperitif in hand, we really enjoy passing an afternoon or early evening here while we watch the hustle and bustle on the street. Just as an Italian day bar should be.

An absolute classic and therefore a must for us when it comes to an Aperol Spritz or two (or anything else with the name Aperitivo): Bar Centrale. The aptly named bar, which is just a stone's throw from Marienplatz, has everything the Italian heart desires, both in terms of drinks and to satisfy hunger. You can come here for breakfast, a lunch date or in the evening to enjoy good food. The menu includes (daily changing) salads, pasta dishes as well as meat and fish dishes. But even a short detour for a Spritz is always worthwhile, whether the weather is good, outside or inside - the Bar Centrale is always a good choice!

We've all been there: we want to sit in the sun, especially in the evening - but where does it shine the longest? Schwabing's Georgenstraße is a good address for a fairly long-lasting guarantee of sunshine. And that's exactly where you'll find the Holzkranich pub garden, which welcomes you with a cold Aperol Spritz. If you're hungry in addition to your Spritz thirst, you can enjoy salads, tarte flambée, burgers, snacks and much more. Breakfast is also a good option here - and at the weekend, you might even enjoy an Aperol Spritz for a change. A toast!

We love it at any time of year: the Gans am Wasser. But summer is really the best time to drink a toast to a long night out or to say a fitting farewell to a hot day. Incidentally, the Aperol Spritz tastes so good here not only because of the beautiful location by the lake, but also because at €6.20, it's really okay by Munich standards. By the way: in addition to the classic, we particularly enjoy the Prosecco rhubarb at Gans am Wasser. And of course a portion of the world's best fries to go with it - highly recommended!

Café & bar in one? We love it. Whenever we can't quite decide at the weekend whether we fancy a drink or a relaxed cappuccino, we've found the right place to go with sehrwohl in Westend. The sehrwohl is a great place to sit outside - but that's not the only reason why we recommend it for an Aperol Spritz. The love for aperitivo is really great here: you can even buy T-shirts, socks or bags with a "La Banda dell Aperitivo" print and even order a Spritz cab to deliver aperitivo to you in the Westend - really true! Well, if that's not an argument...

Ah, the Alte Utting: the steamboat on the disused railroad bridge, which caused a huge hype a few years ago, is now an integral part of Munich's cityscape. You almost have to remind yourself from time to time how wonderful it is that we can spend balmy summer evenings on a boat in the middle of the city - even without any water! That's why the Utting should definitely not be missing from our list here: The Aperol Spritz tastes just that little bit better with such a beautiful view over Munich and really great evening light than anywhere else. Saluti!

Always a safe bet when it comes to Aperol Spritz: L'Americano on the corner of Fraunhoferstrasse and Reichenbachstrasse. This really very small bar only has limited seating inside - so it's all the better that you can also enjoy it outside and watch the hustle and bustle on the busy Fraunhoferstraße. In addition to the eponymous Americano, the bar also serves the summer classic Aperol Spritz. And if you want to try even more from the menu, we recommend a first-class Negroni or Frangelico Sour! The Americano should be your choice if you opt for day drinking, as the bar is also open during the day and provides you with small snacks when you get hungry.
